It is this leadership and responsibility which mean he is not only one of the most hard-working children I’ve ever met, but also the kindest and most caring. What a joy this child is! She’s very much part of our class family and has helped both Mrs Thomson and Mrs Rice settle in to new year groups and classes. This half term has seen a huge increase in effort from Engshang. He is happy to help and coach his classmates, making him a real hero. The sense of accomplishment he feels in most lessons is evident but he is also humble in his success and celebrates the achievements of his friends too, showing how he really belongs in our 4TR family.

Curiosity could be this boy’s middle name! He is always asking interesting questions to deepen his understanding, and receives new information with joy. Fun and excitement also form a big part of Engshang’s days as he has a great sense of humour and can often be found sharing a laugh and joke with his friends on the playground, or a quick giggle with Mrs Thomson in class.

One of the best things about Engshang is his confidence. He isn’t afraid to take action, whether as leader of a group, helping adults around the school or tidying up, even though it’s not always his mess to tidy! He is a calm addition to his Enterprise team and leads the financial side with compassion and understanding.

Sikandar is a great role model to his peers, as he always tried to set the right example in and out of class with great behaviour for learning. He has also started to really make an effort to show his engagement more in lessons by raising his hand and contributing during discussions more, which is lovely to see.

During our class assembly this year, Sikandar volunteered to have a speaking part, which for me demonstrated how far he has already come and how determined he is to improve all the time. The confidence you showed to speak clearly and loudly to such a large audience was amazing!

Fun and excitement is something Millie displays on a daily basis, 24 hours a day! Many of the other members of 5P refer to Millie as ‘Sassy Millie’ and she definitely lives up to her title. Not only does she have an infectious personality she is also extremely hard working and this has been evident recently with her hot writes; she has listened really well during class inputs and she is producing effective pieces of writing. Her hard work certainly paid off during assessment week, so well done Millie!

Whether she’s in class or in the playground, her attitude and behaviour choices are utterly faultless, as she always strives to do the right thing at the right time, with a beaming smile on her face. What amazes me about Eden is her amazing give-it-a-go attitude. Regardless of the challenge presented to her, Eden will tackle it to the best of her abilities, without ever giving up. This means that Eden allows herself to experience many fun and exciting opportunities, such as being the only girl in the Year 5/6 football team!

Watching Eden work in her Enterprise group brings a smile to my face! When working with her team, she is fair, diplomatic and patient, making her the perfect Managing Director. Pransh is most definitely a people person, with fantastic communication skills. This has been evident throughout lessons, where he is more than willing to help others, thus ensuring his classmates feel a sense of accomplishment. What has been incredibly lovely to witness is his friendship with Amalia (who is new to the country). Since September, he really has taken time to ensure she feels as though she belongs at Oak Hill Academy, and I have genuinely been blown away by his kindness.

I am pretty sure there is not a lesson that goes by without seeing Pransh’s hand waving in the air, as a result of his curious nature. It is clear to see that Pransh spends time at home studying topics we learn about in school, thus showing how keen and eager he is when he finds a topic that excites him.

Pransh is an extremely confident member of the 6B family, who is happy to work with a range of pupils and present his ideas to large groups. I really do hope that this Principal’s Award inspires and motivates him to apply such confidence to his own writing, as I would love to see him make more daring vocabulary choices. I’m looking forward to seeing the results of Pransh’s academic confidence after the Christmas holidays!

Daniel enjoys his learning and is happiest in the classroom when he can explore. He is confident to ask exciting questions and then take steps to investigate and find his answer, something I’ve noticed a lot in Science. He is excited to be a team player in P.E. and his team mates can always rely on him to have a go even when they are doubtful themselves.

Daniel has showcased some great leadership skills this term. He has managed to help his Enterprise group during some challenging discussions, taking on the role of the mediator and helping to make sure everyone has a say.
